About Us
Putra Medical Centre traces its origins to 1991, when Dato' Dr. Lim Kim Huat and Yu Ching Hsiu acquired Unique Luxury Sdn. Bhd. with the intention of opening a medical centre in Alor Setar.
The reason was personal. While Dato' Dr. Lim was studying medicine, his mother Chong Yeon was diagnosed with cancer. For months he carried her by moped along the old road from Ayer Hitam to Penang — past Alor Janggus and Simpang Empat, on stretches that were unlit and unpaved — because Penang was the nearest place she could be treated.
That journey became the point of the hospital. Advanced care should be available here in Kedah, so that no family has to cross a state line to find it.
Our Legacy Of Care
Our medical centre began with 2 medical officers, 8 resident specialist consultants and 62 beds, offering accident and emergency services alongside otorhinolaryngology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, radiology and orthopaedics. Today our team of consultants has grown to:

Our Clinical History
1995
Putra Medical Centre begins operations
Commenced operations as Putra Medical Centre in the building known as Old Wing — four floors, with a total built-up area of about 40,357 sq ft.
2007
ISO quality standards achieved
On 13 January 2007, PMC obtained the ISO 9001:2000 certificate — a mark of the Group's commitment to quality patient care.
2009
Major facility expansion completed
Completed the New Wing and New Building — eight floors, with a total built-up area of about 95,884 sq ft.
2016
National hospital accreditation secured
Accredited by the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health on 21 January 2016, in recognition of compliance with the Malaysian Hospital Accreditation Standards.
2019
Expansion into Kulim
Poliklinik UNIK opened in Kulim on 19 November 2019, and Klinik Pergigian UNIK, the dental clinic, on 3 June 2019.
ULKSB was incorporated in April 2019 by Dato' Dr. Lim and Dato' Lee, with the intention of establishing a new medical centre in Kulim.
2023
Re-accreditation and expansion preparations
Re-accredited by the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health.
Site clearance began in preparation for PMC Kulim, and dental services expanded to Semenyih, Selangor, under the name Klinik Pergigian UNIK.
2024
Building greener
Certified under the Green Building Index in August 2024.
Earthworks for PMC Kulim began in the fourth quarter of 2024, with building construction expected to start in the first quarter of 2025. The new centre is being built to MyCREST standards.
2025
Public listing and a new laboratory
Rym Dx Laboratory commenced operations in Kulim in March 2025.
The prospectus was launched on 26 May 2025, and the Group listed on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia on 9 July 2025.
